Frequently asked questions

Starting therapy with us is simple. Fill out the contact form on our website or click here to access our client portal, where you can schedule an initial consultation to discuss your needs and determine the best approach for your care.
Once you’ve scheduled your first intake session, your therapist will send you a link for the video appointment. Click on it a few minutes before your scheduled time or open it through the Telehealth by SimplePractice app.

To join your virtual therapy session, ensure you have one of the following devices:
– Desktop or laptop with webcam, speakers, a 2.5 GHz processor, and 4 GB of RAM
– Tablet or iPad with built-in webcam and speakers
– Smartphone with iOS 13 or Android 10 (must download Telehealth by SimplePractice from the app store)

Therapy begins with an initial consultation to discuss your concerns and goals. Together, we create a personalized plan tailored to your needs. During regular sessions, we explore your thoughts and feelings, develop coping strategies, and work towards achieving your mental health goals. The process is collaborative and evolves based on your progress and feedback.
The length of treatment varies based on individual needs and goals. Some may see significant improvement in a few months, while others may benefit from longer-term therapy. We’ll regularly review your progress to ensure the treatment duration aligns with your journey toward well-being.
We adhere to strict confidentiality standards to ensure that your personal information and therapy sessions are private and secure.
At Tend Well, we do not accept insurance but offer private pay options. We can provide a superbill upon request for you to seek out-of-network reimbursement. Contact us for details on our fees and payment options.
We request a minimum of 48 hours’ notice for cancellations. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice will incur the full session fee. A credit card will be kept on file and charged only for late cancellations or missed appointments.

As of January 1, 2022, healthcare providers must provide a “Good Faith Estimate” of expected treatment costs. This estimate outlines reasonably expected costs based on current information. If you receive a bill at least $400 more than the estimate, you have the right to dispute it. Visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 800-985-3059 for more information.

Simple Practice’s Getting Started Guide includes tips and instructions on navigating the client portal, joining video appointments, requesting, canceling, or rescheduling therapy sessions, securely messaging your therapist, and paying your bill. Access the guide here.
Tend Well is not an emergency service provider. If you need immediate help, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. For mental health crises, dial or text the Maryland Crisis Hotline at 988.
